I’m a 2nd year DPhil student in the PSG group under the supervision of Prof. Patrick Grant and Dr Enzo Liotti. My research is mainly focussed on making near-net shape (NNS) components using our Field-Assisted Sintering Technique (FAST) machine. Making near-net shape components reduces the overall cost, time investment and materials waste of a manufacturing process and I’m trying to combine this with the lower sintering times, greater safety and higher energy efficiency of the FAST process compared to other NNS processes like hot isostatic pressing (HIP). In addition, I’m also looking into how electric current, which provides the heating in the FAST, affects sintering in multi-material parts.

Prior to coming to the University of Oxford I received a master’s degree in Chemistry (MChem) from the University of Edinburgh.
