Jieming (Sean) Zhang is a DPhil student under the supervision of Prof Roger Reed FREng, Prof Patrick Grant FREng and Prof Alan Cocks FREng (Engineering). His research focuses on the optimization of fatigue properties of biomedical implants, which is funded by Alloyed Ltd.
He obtained a B.Eng in Materials Science and Engineering from Imperial College London with First Class (Hons) and was awarded Engineering Dean's list (top 10%) in both first and second year. As a result of that, he was able to carry out a Masters research project supervised by Prof Mary Ryan CBE FREng in the final year of his undergraduate degree and progressed directly to a DPhil project in Oxford at the age of 20.
